Q: What does Sawadi mean?
A: It is the Thai way to greet someone.

Q: How did the pineapple get its name?
A: The Spanish gave it the name "pina" because it resembled a pinecone. The English added the word "apple" because the flavor and juice was similar to an apple.

Q: How long does it take to grow a pineapple?
A: From the planting of the first plant to the harvest of the first pineapple it takes 8 months.

Q: How long does it take to make pineapple wine?
A: After the pineapple has been harvested it takes 2 months to create Sawadi Pineapple Wine.

Q: How does a pineapple grow?
A: The pineapple plant is a herbaceous perennial, 2-1/2 to 5 ft. high with a spread of 3 to 4 ft. It is essentially a short, stout stem with a rosette of waxy, strap like leaves.

Q: What other names are there for pineapples?
A: Ananas, Nanas, Pina, and Sabparot (Thai)

Q: Do we age the pineapple wine at the winery?
A: Its a fresh wine and is only aged for one month to ensure a smooth taste.

Q: What is Sawadi Pineapple Wine's shelf life?
A: We recommend drinking the wine within its first year.

Q: In what bottle sizes do we sell Sawadi Pineapple Wine?
A: Currently we only offer the 750ml bottle size.

Q: Where did pineapple originate and when did they come to Thailand?
A: Its origination was from South America and upon Christopher Columbus's discovery of that region it expanded to reach other regions of the world including Thailand in the 17th century.

Q: Is pineapple wine as sweet as the original pineapple?
A: The original refreshing taste of pineapple is still preserved but the sweet and sour taste is removed through the fermentation process.

Q: Why are there few pineapple wineries in the world?
A: This is due to the unique growing conditions required to grow pineapples.

Q: Do we make Sawadi Pineapple Wine all year long?
A: Yes, but we take a break at lunch time and on weekends.
