General settings |
The General Settings area covers a miscellaneous range of settings, including where Hosting Controller is installed, the hosting root folder path, and the number of domains that are shown on one page. For example, if you were hosting 40 domains, changing the Items Displayed field to 20 would display 2 windows of 20 domains each.
One of the major advantages of Hosting Controller is that it completely handles the NTFS security at the back end. This means that when you create an account and web site, a user account and folders are created in the background. There are certain NTFS security permissions that need to be set on these folders to prevent hacking and unauthorized access. Hosting Controller uses best security practices and sets the strongest NTFS permissions on these folders automatically, making them as secure as possible. However, if you want to handle NTFS security yourself, you can disable this feature by enabling the Default ACL Adjustment tick box in the General Settings area - Hosting Controller will no longer set NTFS permissions on your server.
To set your general settings:
Click on the General Settings link in the Preferences menu.
Enter the path of the Hosting Controller installation in the HC Install Path field, and the root directory for all your hosting information in the Web Folder Path field.If you want to find the correct folder path using the button, use the following techniques:
Choose the drive you want to examine from the top drop-down list.
Click on the required folder in the Folders list and click on button to open that folder.
Click on the button to move up directories.
Click on the button when you have found the correct folder.
Click on the Automatic
ACL Adjustment tick box, if required.

Click on the Enable Event Logging tick box, if required. Event logging, if enabled, will log all Hosting Controller related events in System Event Log. To view the system event click Start->Programs->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer.
Enter the number of domains that you want displayed in the Items Displayed field.
Click on the button.
